CLIENT
Pettrus Mineração & Comércio Ltda is a Brazilian company specializing in the extraction, processing, and marketing of rare and exotic ornamental marbles.
With its own quarries in Brazil, Pettrus stands out as a brand that combines the artistry of stone with a responsible vision, emphasizing sustainability, material traceability, and the deep connection between humanity and nature.
CONCEPT
The stand was designed to embody Pettrus’s philosophy: the meeting of stone’s ancestral strength with the dynamic energy of contemporary culture.
The installation took the shape of a basketball court entirely crafted in marble. The floor, game lines, and tiered seating were all clad in natural stone, transforming a familiar space of sport into a monumental stage.
At its center, a sculptural composition of multiple white hoops rose into the air, suggesting movement, multiplying perspectives, and turning athletic play into an artistic expression.
The surrounding walls, lined with light marble featuring strong veining, displayed engraved details and the Pettrus logo, alongside a large screen playing evocative imagery, bodies in motion, raw material, and the dialogue between nature and humanity.
The result was an immersive environment: not a simple display of stone slabs, but a symbolic arena where strength, elegance, and play coexisted, inviting visitors to see and feel marble as a living, timeless material
REALIZATION
The stand spanned 1076sqft and was meticulously constructed with flush-laid marble panels, carefully chosen for their veining and colors to replicate the geometry of a basketball court with crisp white lines against darker green and brown surfaces.
The walls, also clad in marble, incorporated engraved elements and the embossed Pettrus logo. Every detail, from thin joints to polished finishes, was executed with precision to highlight the continuity and refinement of the stone.
Above the court, the white metal hoop structure was assembled with hidden supports and subtle fixings, ensuring visual lightness without compromising stability.
To further engage visitors, the installation featured real basketballs, allowing people to interact and play within the space. This playful yet sophisticated detail emphasized marble not only as a static material but as part of a dynamic, contemporary experience.
The stand successfully merged technical mastery with strong visual storytelling, transforming marble into a powerful medium of communication—timeless, surprising, and engaging.
